Hall Pulls A Major Upset On Green
Jun 7, 2006
Author: Andrew Ferguson

It was the upset of the season thus far! Brad Green, a highly fancied title hope and considered by most a certain finalist was shown up by the relative outsider, Jess Hall. The result has raised the brow of most, could Jess Hall be a contender when it comes down to the finals? She was competitive against title favourite Andrew Ferguson, despite not winning a frame, and given that she defeated Ben Cook 3-0 she is in good shape to go far this season. For Brad Green it is back to the drawing board after the defeat, he is taking heart in the fact that at 2-1 and 2-2 he had a real shot at winning the match, but was just unable to close it out. He will look to work on his end game as the season heats up.

It was a tough day in the field for the team of Andrew Ferguson, Paul Riordan and Michael Poulakakis. They struggled to get Jason Berge out on a pitch that was a batsmens paradise. They did have their chances though, a number of dropped chances and a very close lbw decision could have seen the game take another path. As it was the Groove XI comfortably chased down the Blue Sox All Out 110.

It is the newest sport to be added the the Trust A Mate Sports Network and Sunday the 18th of June will see it make it's much anticipated debut! Gordon Toy and Andrew Ferguson had a trial match last week and things look set to run smoothly for the first event. There are no clear favourites to take out the competition at this point and it seems likely that it will be a very even competition given the inexperience of most.

From Polska Dynasty To Polska Dot
Jun 7, 2006
Author: Andrew Ferguson

One of the real highlights of the first ever season of Trust A Mate Poker was the success of Polska Dynasty, in the events she played she really dominated the tables, claiming 5 top 3 placings in 11 events. Since then she has played a further 7 events and only finished in the top 3 twice, not adding any victories to her impressive career statistics in that time. It will be interesting to see whether she can reclaim some of her old form in the coming events of the Trust A Mate Poker Tour.

Frankle, The New Force
Jun 7, 2006
Author: Andrew Ferguson

It was humble beginnings for the Frankle on the Trust A Mate Poker Tour. It took 28 unsuccessful attempts before Frankle notched up his first tour win in the Spring 2005 season at the 'Freedom is Ours' event. Following that event was the Spring Main Event where his result was a disappointing 5th place, but then in the first event of the new Summer 2006 season he brought up yet another win. The Frankle certainly did take his time emerging as a force, but with two victories in three events he will certainly be staking his claim to being one of the toughest players on the tour.

Lightning Cup Moments - Part I
Jun 7, 2006
Author: Andrew Ferguson

It was a game that was foreign to all the players, the rules were sketchy, but enthusiasm was high. Suburbanball, or Danball as it was known at the time, was beginning in Australia. The game had changed from the original Danball rules, but for now it had maintained the Danball branding. Mark Bennetto, Andrew Ferguson and Brad Green took the court for the Blue Flames and Jason Berge, Luke Kasperczyk, Patrick McNeilly and Ben Viner opposed them as the Hells Bells. Mark Bennetto was the star with 19 goals, but his efforts were overshadowed by the massive success the event had been. The result (Blue Flames win) was irrelevant, the competitive spirit and sportsmanship was the highlight of the contest. The first ever Lightning Cup will forever be remembered by those who took part and their names are firmly etched in Suburbanball history.

Suburbanball: A Look Back
Jun 7, 2006
Author: Andrew Ferguson

It has been over two years since the last competitive game of Suburbanball in the Bayside Suburbanball League. Looking back it really was a special time to be around. For every player and official that was involved it felt like they were a part of something special. Suburbanball was a game at which anyone could have their moment, anyone could be a champion on a given day. While Suburbanball lies idle for now, who knows what the future will hold for a once great community sport.
